Description
This work uses strong Asian imagery to express feelings of vulnerability, turmoil, anxiety and loss, but it also looks toward healing. Although the Asian images appear frightening and fierce, they have a dual nature. The central figure is Yama, the Mongolian Lord of Death, who destroys demons and removes obstacles to enlightenment. The tiger and the dragon symbolize the yin yang (duality) of the universe. These two symbols are complimentary according to Chinese astrology. They are opposite in character with the dragon leading the offensive charge and the tiger expressing a defensive nature, however together they make a well-rounded whole.
