The extreme desert conditions in coastal Peru allow farming only along the drainages, where from the air, the cultivated patches appear as jewels or charms hanging on the sinuous ribbons of the stream beds.

I have always experienced a deep longing to connect with something ancient and enduring and have found that art is the portal by which I could attempt to do so. As an approach to the beautiful and the mysterious, art provides a path for exploring our common Human Heritage. It communicates beyond words, and points toward that which is eternal and unknowable. Ancient art, objects and symbols inspire me. Responding to them in a simple human context, I attempt to present them in new and harmonious ways. I am especially drawn to symbols that have occurred repeatedly over long periods of time and in multiple contexts.
